Experimenting With Car Physics
So this weeks game jam was a fun one, I had already been working on some interesting car physics for another prototype I'm working on involving low/no gravity and magnetic wheels and wanted to expand on that in an interesting way for this Jam. I originally tried adapting my magnetic code to just be "always on" and stuck it to the planet but had a lot of issues so (with the help of some guys over on the WGJ Discord) a gravity script that got it all going.
It's interesting but some of the main things that would need to be overcome to take it much further is making a tool that makes it easy to make courses that can rotate on all 3 axis (the ones I have made in the past only do 2). This way I can make real tracks. The next thing would be the camera. It's really hard to see really any distance but if the planets are much bigger it would be hard to populate them and make them interesting. Better planet shaders (I would need to make something that is similar to how the terrain shaders work).
I had fun with this game and I'll probably add the high scoring and such that I initially intended on doing before calling it. I'll then put together a magnetic racing game and go from there really. See which has some merit.
